Sykes Driving School LLC– Terms & Policies
Last Updated: August 1, 2026
Acceptance of Terms
By booking a lesson or using any of our services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Policies. If you do not agree with these Terms and Policies, please do not book lessons or use our services.
Services Provided
Sykes Driving School LLC provides professional driver education, including behind-the-wheel instruction and individualized driving instruction for teens, adults, and diverse learners. All services must be booked and paid for in advance. We also offer an optional DMV Ride and Support Service for students who need transportation or moral support during their driving test. This service does not include any lessons or instruction, and we do not guarantee that you will pass your test.
Booking Policy
Lessons must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance, either online, by phone, or in person. Full payment is required at the time of booking unless prior arrangements have been made. Students must be prepared and ready at the scheduled pick-up time, as late arrivals will result in a shortened lesson without a refund. While we strive to provide consistency with instructors, scheduling or operational needs may occasionally require a different instructor to conduct a lesson. Any substitute instructor will meet the qualifications and standards established by Sykes Driving School.
Cancellation Policy
To cancel or reschedule a lesson, notice must be given at least 48 hours before the scheduled time. Lessons canceled with at least 48 hours’ notice may be rescheduled at no extra cost. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice or no-shows will result in the full lesson fee being forfeited. If Sykes Driving School cancels a lesson due to instructor or vehicle issues, we will offer to reschedule at no charge.
Student Responsibilities
Students must arrive with a valid learner’s permit or driver’s license, wear appropriate footwear and clothing, and follow all safety instructions provided by the instructor. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited.
Illness Policy
Students who are experiencing vomiting, fever, flu-like symptoms, COVID-19, or any other contagious illness must reschedule their lesson. To help protect the health of our students and instructors, we ask that you do not attend a lesson while you are ill.
Safety and Liability
Sykes Driving School maintains fully insured vehicles for instructional use and is committed to providing a safe learning environment. Students are expected to follow all instructor directions and always operate the vehicle safely. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Sykes Driving School is not liable for damages, injuries, losses, or incidents resulting from a student's intentional misconduct, violation of traffic laws, or failure to follow instructor directions.
Cell Phone Policy
Students may not use cell phones, text, record videos, or use social media while operating the vehicle unless specifically instructed to do so as part of the lesson.
Code of Conduct
We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue service to any student whose behavior is unsafe, inappropriate, or disruptive during instruction or while using our services.
Road Test Support Policy:
Road Test Support is available only to students whom Sykes Driving School has determined are ready to safely and independently complete the Georgia road test. Sykes Driving School reserves the right to decline or cancel Road Test Support if an instructor determines that the student is not road-test ready. In such cases, any Road Test Support fee paid in advance will be refunded in full. Students who purchase Road Test Support but are determined by Sykes Driving School not to be road-test ready will receive a full refund for the Road Test Support service. Our recommendation to take the Georgia Road Test is based solely on a student's demonstrated ability to drive safely and independently and is never based solely on the number of lessons completed.
Lesson Location & Safety Policy
All students are required to begin their first driving lesson in a secure, low-risk environment, such as a high school parking lot, church parking lot, or public park lot. There will be no exceptions to this policy.
Progression from a secure area to public roadways and traffic will occur only after the instructor has determined, at their sole professional discretion, that the student demonstrates adequate control, awareness, and readiness to operate a vehicle safely in traffic conditions. Our instructors' decisions regarding when a student may progress to public roadways are final and are made solely in the interest of the student's safety, our instructors' safety, and the safety of the public.
Weather Policy
Lessons will continue during light rain and normal weather conditions. Lessons may be rescheduled by Sykes Driving School due to severe weather, including thunderstorms, flooding, icy roads, or any condition that creates an unsafe driving environment.
Instructor Authority
Our instructor has the authority to terminate any lesson immediately if continued instruction presents a safety risk. Lessons terminated due to unsafe behavior, refusal to follow instructions, reckless conduct, or violation of company policies may be forfeited without refund.
Dash Camera Policy
For the safety and protection of our students, instructors, and business, instructional vehicles may be equipped with audio and video recording devices. Recordings may be reviewed in the event of an accident, complaint, insurance claim, or safety concern.
Passenger Policy
During a driving lesson, no one is allowed to ride in the car with the student. Parents are welcome to observe the lesson from the meeting location; however, they may not ride in the instructional vehicle during the lesson.
Pick-Up Wait Time
Instructors will wait five (5) minutes beyond the scheduled lesson time. Students who are not ready within five minutes will be considered a no-show and the lesson will be forfeited. This means if your scheduled time is 1PM, the instructor is required to wait from 1:00 to 1:05.
At that time, our instructor will take a time-stamped photograph of the pick-up location and depart. The lesson will be considered a no-show, and the full lesson fee will be forfeited.
Personal Hygiene Policy
Students are expected to maintain reasonable personal hygiene. Strong odors, including smoke, marijuana, excessive perfume, or body odor that interferes with instruction may result in the lesson being canceled or rescheduled.
Student Readiness Policy
Sykes Driving School is committed to developing safe, confident, and responsible drivers. We do not recommend students for the Georgia Road Test based solely on the number of lessons completed. Each student's progress is evaluated individually. We will recommend the road test only when, in our professional judgment, the student consistently demonstrates the knowledge, vehicle control, decision-making, and independent driving skills necessary to operate a motor vehicle safely.
Our goal is not simply to help students obtain a driver's license; our goal is to prepare safe, confident, and responsible drivers for a lifetime of safe driving.
Privacy Policy
We collect and use your personal information solely for scheduling, communication, and instructional purposes. Your information will never be shared without your consent, except as required by law.
Lesson Validity and Expiration Policy
To ensure consistent progress and maintain instructor availability, all driving lessons and lesson packages are subject to the following terms:
For the best learning experience, Sykes Driving School recommends scheduling lessons every 3 to 7 days whenever possible. Consistent practice helps students retain skills, build confidence, and prepare more effectively for the Georgia Road Test.
Driving lesson packages are non-transferable and may only be used by the student whose name appears on the enrollment agreement unless otherwise approved in writing by Sykes Driving School.
